the PROBLEM
DEFINED
Clients use “Reports” within individual modules’ navigation to run reports. These reports can only be viewed or accessed within their module and cannot be customized. Any custom built report must be requested for the company to build for the users to access.
the GOAL
DEFINED
Design a centralized dynamic Reporting tool that allows clients to build, publish, customize and share reports while taking into account user access and permissions.
the DESIGN PROCESS
SUMMARIZED
Conducting competitor research, interviews across product leads to understand cross-product reporting needs, producing high-fidelity mockups, accounting for accessibility, iterating on designs and responsive design.
the FINDINGS
RESEARCH SUMMARY
I conducted interviews and competitor analysis, which I then turned into empathy maps to better understand the target user and their needs. I discovered that many target users desire the ability to customize existing reports and share with colleagues. However, current reporting abilities are limited and prevent the user from efficiently building the necessary reports needed. This caused what should be simple reporting experience to become challenging and cumbersome, causing additional stress factors to overall report generation.
