Coffee Shop Prototype
CAPSTONE PROTOTYPE PROJECT
the PROBLEM
DEFINED
As part of a certification course, a capstone project included developing a Figma prototype under the following prompt: A new coffee shop is looking to reach more customers through a native application. They would like this to keep track of rewards points, view barista picks, menu items and more.
the GOAL
DEFINED
Provide a native mobile solution that offers intuitive menu viewing and ordering processes. The solution should automatically keep track of reward points and give customers the option to apply them at checkout.
the DESIGN PROCESS
SUMMARIZED
Conducting competitor research, producing high-fidelity mockups, iterating on designs, conducting usability research validation and prototyping.
the FINDINGS
RESEARCH SUMMARY
I conducted usability testing to validate the prototype prior to submission. I discovered that many users found the process seamless and simple. However, users noticed that they were unable to view how many rewards points were attributed to each item. This caused users to wait until checkout to see how many points they had and were applicable for checkout.
